- Q – Who is Leadership Yeshiva Academy Intended For?
- A- For young men from English speaking countries who are interested in studying in Eretz yisrael , in a religious Zionist atmosphere which combines serious Torah study and hashkafa together with physical and mental preparation. Leadership Yeshiva Academy is where leaders are made!
- Q- Must I join the IDF at the conclusion of my studies at the mechinah?
- A- No, we instill in our students the skills necessary to serve and lead in life and in the IDF. Although we stress the importance of serving one's nation, the decision of whether or not to serve in the IDF is that of the individual student.
- Q- What is different about the Torah learning at Avnei Eitan?
-A- We believe that every man should have the opportunity to strengthen himself spiritually in his own way. Therefore besides for in-depth Gemarah study the Mechinah is dedicated to imparting to its students a thorough background in Emunah, Hashkafa and Tanach.
- Q- Will I interact with other Israeli Mechinot and its students, and if yes how often?
-A- Although the mechinah itself is dedicated towards English speakers, the program of the mechinah includes many activites with other mechinot. We see interaction with other israeli mechinot as very crucial to our goals and therefore these integrated activities are frequently held.
- Q- What is the cost of the mechina program?
-A- The tuition for the machina program is $21,000 this includes all of the mechina activities.
Scholarships are available from MASA.
Students that refer other students to the mechina and end up joining will receive a 3% tuition discount.
-Q- What medical insurance coverage do you have and do we have to pay for it?
- A - Our students are insured through ‘Davidoff’, a widely used full coverage insurance company in Israel. If you have Hebrew on your computer, you may visit their website at www.davidoff.co.il/index.asp. Davidoff have an insurance program ‘Jewel (Jerusalem Health & Wellness)’ for foreign students, that is made to meet the special needs of religious students coming to organized one year Torah programs.
For minor ailments, the family practitioner is in a very close proximity from the Mechina and is an English speaker. All other medical issues will be treated in a country wide network.
The medical insurance cost is fully covered with the tuition fee. You do not have to pay separately.
- Q - I want to buy a cell phone. Should I buy it in the US or from Israel?
- A - Do not yet buy a cell phone. We have arranged a deal with a cell phone company called ‘IsraelPhones’, that offers all incoming calls for free and the best yet prices for outgoing local/international calls. All the staff also has the same phone and the ‘internal’ calls made between all the students and staff are nearly free. We will also be utilizing phones for some of our outdoor activities and we chose this model (Nokia 5140) as it is extremely durable, has a compass, flashlight, push to talk amongst it’s many features. All IsraelPhones are also part of a security system that allows the LYA staff to communicate instantly and simultaneously with all students.
